1. General Information

We are committed to protecting your personal data in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the EU GDPR and the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP). This privacy policy explains what data we collect, why we process it, and the rights you have when you visit our website or use our services.

2. Data We Collect

• Account data: username, email address, and a securely hashed password (or, for Google sign-in, the profile information described in Section 4)
• Profile & activity: display name, avatar configuration, your match predictions, points and rank
• Contact data: name, email, and message if you reach out to us
• Device & security data: a device fingerprint and device name used to secure your sessions (see Section 5)
• Technical & analytics data: automatically processed for usability and performance (see Sections 7 and 8)

3. Account Registration & Authentication

Creating a TipIQ account is free. When you register, we process your username, email address and password to create and secure your account, verify your email, and let you submit predictions and appear on our leaderboards. Your username and rank may be shown publicly on the members and rankings pages.

Legal basis: performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) for providing your account, and legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR) for keeping it secure.

4. Google Sign-In

You may choose to sign in with Google. If you do, Google shares a signed token containing your basic profile information (such as your name and email address) which we use only to create or access your TipIQ account. We do not receive your Google password. Your use of Google sign-in is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy.

Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) and performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).

5. Device & Security Data

To protect your account we generate a device fingerprint and store a device name when you log in. This helps us manage active sessions, detect suspicious activity, and prevent abuse. Authentication tokens are stored locally in your browser so you stay signed in.

Legal basis: legitimate interest in account security (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).

6. Purpose of Processing

We process your data to provide and secure our services, operate accounts and leaderboards, respond to your messages, and improve site functionality and performance.

7. Hosting and Infrastructure

We host our services on Microsoft Azure. Data may be processed in EU-based Azure data centers or other GDPR-compliant regions, under appropriate safeguards such as the EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs).

8. Cookies & Local Storage

We use cookies and browser local storage to keep you signed in (authentication tokens), remember your preferences, and support analytics and advertising features (see Section 9). You can manage or clear cookies and local storage in your browser settings, though some features may not work without them.

9. Analytics & Advertising

We use Google Analytics to understand how the platform is used and to improve performance. We also use Google Ads for advertising and conversion measurement, which may set cookies or similar identifiers and, where applicable, support remarketing.

These Google services may transfer data to the United States under the EU Standard Contractual Clauses. For more information see Google's Privacy Policy.

10. Third-Party Services

We may use external providers (e.g., Microsoft Azure, Google) acting as our processors under data processing agreements. These providers are bound by their own privacy and security obligations.

• Access, correction, and deletion of your data
• Restriction of, or objection to, processing
• Data portability where applicable
• Withdraw consent at any time
• File a complaint with a data protection authority

12. Data Retention

Account data is retained while your account is active and deleted (or anonymized) on request or within a reasonable period after account closure, unless retention is required by law. Technical and analytics data are retained only as long as necessary for their purpose.
